I have no idea why it’s hard to find reviews or info on this bag. It’s flipping amazing! i love the color scheme, and it’s soft as all get out. If the bottom wasn’t closed this thing would be my new comforter. And the zipper is ingenious, every sleeping bag should have it. It will never catch on you. It has ample room for a 5’10” 165lbs guy. I haven’t gotten to take it out yet but this thing is super warm at 60° right now (I’m not leaving this bag until self isolation is over).
This is a solid cold weather sleeping bag that comes with both a storage bag and stuff sack. It packs easily into stuff sack provided, however prefer to use a stuff sack with compression straps to further reduce the sleeping bag in my pack. The Regular size fits me perfectly at 5'11" ~ 200 lbs. Plenty of room for sleeping on my back or side for a mummy fit. The foot box is plenty big and stayed plenty warm. The lining of the bag is soft and very comfortable. Plus it has a bonus storage pouch on the inside on the top left side. It fits a headlamp or phone perfectly. I haven't tested this down to "cold" temperature, but tested down to 30s with no issues. Stayed plenty warm with the draft collar at the neck and draft tube down the zipper. Love the zipper that can easily be opened and closed without snags. This is one of the best features of the sleeping bag and all future sleeping bags need to have this feature. The drawstring cord for the hood is basic and difficult to use once zipped in. Due to this, I recommend pulling the string prior to zipping up the bag for the cold nights.
I canceled a backpacking trip to go get this warmer bag when I slept below my Nemo forte 20 limit, windy night, in a shelter. R/6.9 pad. Inside zipper is a bit difficult than the outside loop attached to the zipper. I’m getting a lot of snagging while unzipping and zipping up. Pretty much every time. Not a dealbreaker though. Very warm bag. It’s a mummy, it’s a bit tight feeling particularly in the legs. I’m one that will like to kick a leg up while sleeping on my back. Not being able to makes me feel a bit claustrophobic. When zipped up 100% you are buttoned up! And it can be difficult unzipping, I’ve had that happen and got a bit claustrophobic over it. I am also a bit ridiculous and am scared of clowns so there’s that. When you compress the down you will eventually feel the coolness of the outside air. Pretty cool, and you won’t want to roll around too much. (That’s me.) On the warmth of this: I wouldn’t want to use this bag at above 32°, way too warm. I’d love to take this out to well below freezing (teens) to zero or a bit below on a mountain with a base layer on. This is a “affordable” bag using 650 down which is not as compressible compared to other much more expensive fill (800-850-950) which packs smaller and is lighter weight. I’ve got my eye on one of those. If I could keep this bag I would.
Finally got to use this in some cold-ish weather. It was about 25F and I was roasty toasty warm all night. Started with some base layers but quickly had to shed most of them. Even my toes stayed warm. Only time I was cold was for about 2 minutes after I rolled over and the down had been smooshed. I did find it a slight bit constricting at the knees when I tried to curl up. I also basically split 50-50 with turning inside the bag vs rolling the bag with me when I tossed and turned- neither was too much of an issue. I’m 5’9, am a side sleeper, and have curvy thighs and found the men’s size to work well for me. Overall, I’m impressed. can’t wait to use it again!
This sleeping bag is like taking your bed into the wilderness but weighing only two pounds. So comfy and warm, it definitely passes its tempature ratings! The zipper is well crafted with a smooth handle to glide it from your feet to across your chest. Lastly, the draft collar is the best design I've seen. Under the neck then over both shoulders is a smart sealing move. With the price and utility, it's a hikers' must.
I just purchased this bag for my annual winter mountain climbing trip in the Sierra Nevada's and it absolutely did not disappoint. Second night of our climb, at 12,000 feet elevation, a winter storm blew in early with temps hovering around single digits and winds around 20 mph. I tossed my Bishop Pass 0 Degree bag into a Gore-Tex bivvy (no tent) and hunkered down behind a rock for the night wearing level 3's and snow pants. It took 17 hours for the storm to clear, I got buried in an 18 inch snow drift and the humidity in the bivvy caused it to freeze to my sleeping bag. NEVER GOT COLD. A couple of cold spots did develop where the snow compressed the bag but once I pushed the snow off it was back to toasty. I checked the temp in my bag throughout the night on my watch it was consistently around 85 degrees. Not only would I recommend this bag, I'd stake my life on it... again.
This is an awesome sleeping bag, made by a great company! First, it is warm and rugged. Second, for a mummy bag, it is comfortable. If you are a side sleeper, please keep in mind that this is still a mummy bag, and not very wide! Also, I love how light and easy it is to pack! I purchased the long size which is really spacious and comfortable, The zipper is very solid Therefore, for me it has everything I want from a sleeping bag. I did my research before purchasing it. Please do your research, and make sure this is the right bag for you. Overall, I highly recommended it!
I purchased this bag and just got done testing it out in my backyard. At 30 degrees F I was more than toasty and comfortable in shorts, socks, and a t shirt. The second night it got down to 13 F, the lower comfort limit of the bag. At this temperature I was still more than comfortable, although my feet did start to get cold (probably my own fault for poor sock selection). The only complaint I have is that the hood didn’t quite fit my frame properly and wasn’t as comfortable as other bags I had. Overall a great four season bag and I’m looking forward to using it the next few months!
Purchased the Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag for its main purpose of use being for assignments during the 2021 fire season. Very impressed with its durability and compact packing! The dimensions are perfect for any sized habitant (I am 6'5 with wide shoulders, and it fits me). Only concern is the zipper, it tends to catch easily on the fabric when moving it on the track, but that can be inevitable with any bag. It has lasted me through rough weather, and keeps you warm all the time. I would strongly recommend it!
I have used this bag multiple times and it has not disappointed. Lowest temperature used was 25 degrees - had frost on outside of bag but was warm and dry on the inside. Goose down makes for a comfortable sleep. Make sure to get a good sleeping pad and you'll wake refreshed.
