This sleeping bag will keep you toasty! I’m 5’3’, and had probably about 6-8” or so extra at the bottom of the sleeping bag. If you get too warm you can unzip from the bottom and stick your leg out. I wish the drawstring cord was a little easier to let out. When you’re all cozied up, I just found it a little difficult to undo. It feels like I need both hands to let it out all the way. There is a pocket on the inside but it is not very large, my Pixel 6a won’t fit in it so I imagine most phone wouldn’t. Other than those couple things, this sleeping bag is comfortable, easy to zip, easy to pack, and will keep you warm.
When I first got this sleeping bag, I didn't love the mesh carrier. I thought it allowed the sleeping bag to be too puffy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it came with a smaller compact carrier. The sleeping bag is super comfy and super warm. The fill and lining feel like high quality material. I'm 5'4 and the regular length is exactly perfect for my height. If you are 5'5 or taller, I would recommend the long length. There was very little wiggle room when I was all zipped up. I camp in different temperatures. Temperature wise, I was most comfortable when it was approximately 20-30 degrees. I slept with a hoodie and slept well. The night temp was approximately 40 degrees the last time that I went camping. I had to wear much thinner layers to not overheat. Higher temperatures than that resulted in me sleeping with the zipper open or on top of the sleeping bag. Overall, this is a great sleeping bag and an upgrade from my previous one.
I used the Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass for the first time this past weekend for a two day camping trip. I typically sleep cold, and use a 15 degree bag through the summer. This sleeping bag is very lofty. Remains to be seen how it loses loft over time, but at the moments it’s almost comparable to my zero degree sleeping bag. I found it to be a fairly roomy mummy bag. The zipper has a plastic covering that I believe is meant to reduce zipper snagging. Probably adds a bit of weight to the bag but I had no issue with zipper snags. I haven’t pushed this bag to it’s limit- so far I’ve only used it for temperatures into the low 40’s- but I slept very toasty this weekend. I was able to compress it down easily into a smaller stuff sack than the one it came with; I'm sure it could compress even further, but that’s probably up to deciding what impact the compression might have on the loft. It still doesn’t pack down super super small, but for a women’s 15 degree bag, I’m happy with it’s packable size. On my scale, including a stuff sack, the bag weighted in at 2 lbs 10 oz, which seems pretty accurate to the bags advertised weight. If you’re an ounce counter, there may be lighter bags out there, but I’m impressed with the amount of loft that’s packed into that weight. This is my new all-around bag, holding my 0 degree only for extreme winter temps.
I recently used this bag on a weekend camping trip in Northern MN. I'm 5'3 and the regular was quite roomy. I like how big the draft collar is and it compresses down nice and small. Color is beautiful!
This sleeping bag was quite an upgrade for me. It’s really warm and roomy while not having too much extra space. I’m 5’5” and don’t need the extra length, but I always like a bit of extra room. 15 degree gives me a lot of options to use this bag, especially for Colorado nights. There is a small pocket inside, making a headlamp easily accessible. It comes with two stuff sack, one to really condense the bag and another to allow it to expand—a nice touch.
This bag feels wide enough to stretch out my legs even though it’s a mummy shape. Warm but breathable even in warmer summer temperatures. I tried it sleeping open air without a tent and it was water resistant to morning dew. Color is appealing. Appreciate the sleeping pad loops as I otherwise roll off my sleeping pad!
I bought this bag because I am ALWAYS freezing in sleeping bags and was looking for something that would keep me warm even into the fall and spring of Western Colorado. I tested this sleeping bag in my backyard last night and it got down to twenty and not even my toes were cold! I had on a thin long-sleeve, shorts, and thick socks and thought the bag held up very well. There is a puffy layer along the zipper and neck area to block any wind or cold vents. I could sleep on my side without cold air coming in if I cinched the face area a little bit, but it was really easy to adjust to my liking. I was very comfortable in a regular length bag and I am 5'5" with an athletic build.
I replaced by 10 year old North Face Snow Leopard sleeping bag with something lightweight. This fits the bill, but the legs and hips are very narrow compared to my old bag. I should have paid more attention to the hip girth- this bag is 8-10 inches smaller than other bags I was comparing while shopping. For reference, I'm 5'5" and 160 lbs. This is probably great for more slender or athletic builds, but for those of us with some curves, it's borderline claustrophobic and will not even allow for side sleeping.
Don't get me wrong I really like this sleeping bag and I wanted to give it four stars, but I am a cold sleeper and this bag didn't keep me as warm as I thought it would. This is definitely a good 3-season sleeping bag. I have taken this bag in both cold and warm temperatures. The lowest I have taken this sleeping bag to sleep in was 30 degrees. I woke up multiple times from the cool weather, even in this sleeping bag with a properly rated sleeping pad and thermals. I would say the majority of the heat loss was from the sides of the sleeping bag. However, I still really enjoy using this bag, but since I am such a cold sleeper I tend to use this bag for more moderate temperatures. If you are a cold sleeper I would recommend using a warm sleeping bag liner in combanation with this sleeping bag.
My only complaint w/ this bag is that my bum gets cold (back sleeper, 5'4, 130 lbs). That could be though because I only use a z-lite sleeping pad. It's been with me on: 4 days on the JMT in summer, up Mt. Shasta in May, various camping w/ kids trips, and each time it's just warm enough, but not necessarily the warmest. That said it's very versatile: backpacking, mountaineering, camping. I pack it w/ a compression sack and it fits on the bottom of my backpack perfectly. Just know if you run cold or like to be super warm at night, one might think about purchasing a liner. Otherwise the warmth and lightness are definitely worth the price, it's very durable, easy to use. I like the mummy fit. Just a hands down well-made bag.
