Orlando trip
Very comfortable and looks great! Would definitely recommend these to my friends and family.
Great GREAT Hiking Shoe
Comfy, no break in required, hiked 12 miles over the course of 4 days in the Adirondacks with them in dry conditions over rocks, packed dirt, gravel, and steep terrain. They held up perfectly.
Good walking shoe
A little soft with some roll to them. Would not recommend for rocky or uneven terrain esp if you might be larger. Very good soft shoe, lightweight, comfy. Better suited for smooth trails, road.
Good quality, poor fit. They don’t work for me.
I bought these to try out for a backpacking trip that involves quite a bit of hiking in water. I work as a guide and have led this route many times, and I’m always looking for the best shoe to handle the water, sand, and slick rocks of southern Utah. My next trip is later this month, but I’ve been wearing the shoes long enough to realize they are not going to work well due to their loose fit. The length is correct, but they are much too wide. I can’t tighten them enough to fit snugly on my foot. The resulting sloppiness has led to me rolling my ankle several times. I can’t take the risk of that happening when I’m carrying a full backpack for several days in the wilderness. The quality seems decent and the price is attractive, but Merrell needs to work on the fit to make them functional.
Looked great on 'paper', but not in actuality
Purchased the Maipo Explorer Aerosport after recently purchasing the Maipo Explorer Sieve. I love the Sieve, but the Aerosport, while very stylishly appealing, have been very disappointing, as they 'squeak/creak' when walking. At first, I thought it was the grippy sole on the hardwood floor surface, but it happens on all surfaces and is noticeable enough that even people nearby notice the sound. Disappointing, considering my past experience with Merrell products has been so positive.
Taking a chance!
I liked the looks and the tread/sole profile which led me to buying these sneakers. I tried them on when I received them and they felt very comfortable and also very light, weight wise! The only thing I don't like is the elastic strap in the center of the top of my arch of my foot, it's a little annoying but I think in time my feet will adjust to it!
Light weight option
I like my Maipo shoes. I was a bit disappointed in the inner soles (very thin) so bought some to replace those that came in the shoes. They do fit a bit differently than other Merrells. Not sure why, just roomier in the toe bed. Overall, I like the way they look and are comfortable with new inserts.
Happy husband!
My husband used to complain about his feet hurting constantly. I bought him a pair of Merril's a few years ago and the pain has subsided. They have cushion and fit well. He is extremely active, so I buy him 3 or 4 pairs a year and he has been happy with all styles I have ordered.
