Iāve had these now for a while, and have run on essentially three types of terrain. Roads, (gravel and paved) well maintained trails, and very technical rocky trails. The shoes have been amazing on the less technical stuff, and I have set a few prās with them. On the more technical descents I have rolled both ankles multiple times. Thankfully I have strong ankles and only once did it actually leave me with a mild strain from the inversion. The stack height and cushion is phenomenal on more predictable surfaces, but is not super safe for the ankles on the technical stuff. Thatās my experience, and I would absolutely buy them again! Use them for the right job.
I just ran a 50km race with 5,000 feet of elevation gain and loss wearing these shoes. I was nervous that the toe box height would be too short, but that didnāt end up being an issue at all. I didnāt get a single blister after getting them from other trail shoes. The front toe shield definitely saved my big toe more than once after slamming into some rocks. Iād recommend them for lighter mud and snow conditions, but overall they were very comfortable and fast. They fit true to size to my vaporflys. Very satisfied and an eye catching piece.
Incredible trail shoe from Nikeā¦well balanced shoe with a great lockdown. The zoomx is much softer than its predecessor but still offers the connection a trial runner needs from foot to ground. The sole is quite aggressive but you donāt feel it running on tarmac or light trail which is really important to me. I took just under a minute a mile of my pb for a coastal run wearing this shoe, it blew me away. The colour is a lot brighter than the pic and really is an eye catching wearā¦11/10.
Forward propelling with solid grip thatās fine on tarmac as blades are short. Wide front footprint like original invincible and original vaporfly rear. Great uphill. Basically bin all your legacy trail shoes.
Comfort, style and beauty. Not to mention performance! The color on these shoes is remarkable. They are stable, have good bounce to them and the grip is fantastic.
Trail runs are my new favorite. These add stability and spring to my step when running. Highly recommend for trail running.
Raced in the first version of the Ultrafly's and thought these would have been an improvement to them. I'll give it to Nike that these are a super snappy shoe with a great upper fit. The Vibram outsole is grippy as well -- no issues there. The main issue I'm having with them is the midsole is even stiffer than the first version! I've gotten 30 miles in the shoes so far and am hoping that it's just a break-in issue, but my feet are so sore after running in these that I cannot fathom doing any ultramarathon distance race in them, especially on technical terrain.
Very comfortable excellent shoes š
The shoe has a very nice bounce to them when running and the fit is really good. Plenty of room in the toe box kept my feet comfy. I like the way the upper is made because it hugs the foot and does not let in small stones and dirt. Last years Ultrafly let dirt in like crazy and itās really awesome Nike fixed this. Also all the color ways are really nice looking. I really like the blue color that I bought.
My first run with these today. Ran a 3 mile trail single track loop that I typically run 4 times/week. New shoes always give me a placebo effect but my perceived effort was less than previous runs and I was 15 seconds per mile faster in these ACGs. They felt awesome out of the box on this non-technical single track. The price is a little steep for a pair of trail runners but they are plated, lightweight and well built. I was impressed. Nike treated me great. This was my second pair. I had one run in my previous pair and the Zoom X foam had a tear near the heal. My first run out was on a technical and rocky trail so not sure if I hooked a rock or something but they took my return and sent me a new pair very quickly and easily. I will use these ACGs on smoother single track and save some more robust shoes for rockier technical trails. Can't wait to get some more miles on them!
