PLEASE bring back old design!!!
Please go back to old design! They changed these shorts just recently😭 These used to be my favorite shorts and the changes they made are terrible. The worst is the waist band is no longer comfortable! The old one used to be so comfortable and this one digs into my sides. Also the stitching makes it looks like they are inside out. It also now looks like they are .5” shorter. Please please please bring back old design!!!
Waistband not good
I bought these hoping that they would be similar to the 4.5 inch active pursuit shorts I have. Unfortunately. they aren’t. The waistband in the 4.5 inch pair is much more comfortable and forgiving. This one is a thinner band and rolls up strange on me. I’m still undecided whether I will keep or return. Please bring back the waistband from the 4.5 inch model!!
Old Ones Were Better
Agree with the other customers who said the previous design was better. Honestly, my only problem with these is the waistband. Old ones had a perfect waistband-this one kind of digs into your waist. Overall, they’re pretty comfortable but I have no idea why they changed this. They also do seem to be somewhat shorter. Not a big problem but again, there was no need for the change.
Used to be perfect
These have been my favorite shorts for years, but they kinda ruined them this year. The waistband sits way too high, and it’s uncomfortable. I’m glad they at least kept the zipper pocket on the outside.
Bad upgrade on good old shorts
Absolutely ruined these shorts with a bad new waistband! No one asked for the bad upgrade and we all loved the previous version so why mess it up..l
Give me old waistband and the .5" back!
I totally agree with ShaunaA. "Please go back to old design!" They also were my favorite shorts! Now they are shorter by .5 inch, the waistband isn't even comfortable. I am so disappointed.
Bring back the old ones please!!
The old ones were much more comfortable. Specifically, the waistband, but also the overall cut. They were perfect before and I hope they will go back to the previous design.
Go back to the old version
Rather have the older version with the wider band. This one just digs into my waist and accentuates a fat roll. The older version was more flattering in the waist. Also prefer the 4.5 inch as opposed to this new one which is only 4 inches.
The Pilling...the odd waistband
Love the length, love the rise of these shorts but the waistband is weird and does dig into you and I ordered multiple sizes. Also the pilling on these shorts and the pants version is CRAZY. That is my biggest issue - pilling. Buying more because I like them but the pilling looks terrible. Guess thats their point so you have to buy more. smh.
Old vs New Waistband
I have to agree with all other reviewers regarding the comfort and quality of the Old Style REI Co-op running shorts…..much better than this years model. However, I went into a store and tried on every pair of running shorts in both sizes small and medium to find a replacement. I walked out with the REI Co-op, size small, new waistband, best of the bunch just not what I had hoped for. All other brands just don’t have the same style and length. 5.7”, 65 yrs, 140lbs.
