Cushion, Lightweight, Breathable, Speed
LOVE the Sylan 2! I think these are a major upgrade from the previous Sylan model. They are extremely lightweight, stable, breathable, and responsive. They have a carbon rock plate on the bottom to help with more technical terrain and to help propel you forward. I used them on a 20 mile long trail run for the first time and had 0 blisters at the end. They have a good amount of cushion for the long hours spent on the trail. I love the shoe lace garage feature so I donāt trip on the laces! The Sylans are built for speed but also great for the everyday trail run. I think they run small/narrow and usually wear a size 8 in Arcāteryx shoes but had to buy an 8.5 for the Sylan 2. I highly highly recommend these trail runners!
Makes me want to run faster!
[Employee of arcteryx] The Sylan 2 really shines when it comes to grip and traction ā I felt confident and well-supported on both uphill and downhill sections, which is saying something on technical trails. And when I picked up the pace, the propulsion from the carbon plate and foam combination was noticeable ā it genuinely makes you want to run faster. That said, coming from the Norvan LD 4, I personally found the Sylan 2 a bit less stable ā something that took a little getting used to. I missed that planted, secure feeling the Norvan gives me, especially on trickier terrain. Once I started pushing the pace though, it clicked ā this shoe just wants to go fast. A heads up on sizing if youāre coming from the Norvan LD 4: I ordered my typical size for runners in that shoe but found it a touch long, so I went half a size down in the Sylan 2. The length felt great, but the toe box ended up a little too tight for my foot. It was fine on a shorter run, but on a longer one I started developing hot spots on the ball of my foot, right under the big toe ā likely from the extra pressure in a snugger fit. If I could do it again, Iād stick with my usual ārunnersā size to give my feet more room, especially since feet tend to swell on longer runs. One small thing ā these are a little tricky to get on. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing before you buy
Very lightweight and cushioned
The new Arcāteryx Sylan 2 is a game-changer on the trails. They have great cushioning and are very responsive. They feel incredibly lightweight on the climbs yet stable enough for technical descents, the perfect racer for anyone looking to move fast in the mountains and perfect for training too.
Fast trail shoe!
Overall a very well balanced shoe! Great traction on trail runs. Light but still gives support around the ankles with good cushioning. I felt fastš
Great first impressions!
Iāve only used these twice so far, but first impressions are positive. Grip feels very solid, especially on rocky and uneven terraināyou feel stable even when picking up the pace. Theyāre also quite responsive, with a nice push when running faster. The upper is light and breathable, and the fit is snug and secure, which works well on more technical trails. That said, they feel a bit stiff and not super cushioned, so Iām not sure Iād use them for longer or slower runs. Overall, really promising so farāgreat if youāre looking for something fast and precise on trails.
Great grip!
Le scarpe sono molto stabili, con un buon grip. Il piede respira molto bene
Comfortable and Fast
Got to try these out today on one of the Arc'teryx Community Trail Runs for Lynnfield MA Market Street's location and they did not disappoint. The rocker was really nice on the inclines to help push me along the trail with minimal effort. I also felt very supported but not heavy footed. The elastic synching at the ankle was perfect to keep the dirt out of my shoes as I kicked stuff up while running. There were no pressure points at all and we did a little over 10K of trail running today.
Sylan for life!
These shoes are my absolute favourite for running. As someone whoās very much a fair weather runner with sensitive joints I love how much these shoes feel like cheating!! The rock of the sole supports my joints so well and really propels me. They have however reduced the extremity of the rock from the Sylan 1 to make walking in them feel less alien. As a rocking sole fan these shoes provide the level of support and propulsion I want without compromising on comfort. I love them!!! :)
Responsive trail shoe that still feels nimble
Iāve been running in the Sylan 2ās for the past few weeks and have been really impressed. The grip feels solid on both runnable sections and more technical terrain, and the foot feels secure, especially through the toe box. Overall, the shoe feels more stable than previous versions Iāve worn, which has made longer runs on mixed terrain feel comfortable and controlled. For sizing: I normally wear a size 9, but I sized down to an 8.5 in these and they fit perfectly for me.
The Sylan has arrived
The Sylan has arrived. WOW. I have a couple weeks of miles on them, and am blown away by the propulsion of the shoe. The slightly less aggressive tread (not as high) than the previous version has improved traction across more variable terrain. I find the cushioning perfect, even as someone prone to pronation. They are surprisingly breathable and comfortable, and the rocker has also improved since the first iteration. The shoe feels FAST and I'm loving it.
