Named for the late Doug Coombs, the K2 Apache Coomba is a testament to the ski legend's years of guiding and revolutionary extreme skiing.
- Doug Coombs worked with K2 for more than two years developing this next-generation powder ski, designed for steep-skiing alpinists and heli skiers
- Balanced flex pattern and generous 102mm waist create excellent flotation and easy handling in difficult conditions
- Torsion Box design utilizes a Triaxial-braided wood core to create a high degree of rebound and performance
- Fir wood core produces a natural flex, allowing the ski to achieve full contact with the snow throughout the turn
- Triaxial braiding wraps an interlocking fiberglass weave around the wood core providing torsional stiffness, responsive turning and sensitivity
- Cap construction envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski, keeping overall weight light and durability high
- MOD technology features an elastomeric secondary core which works as a high-performance suspension and damping system
- MOD technology doesn't affect flex, allowing the skis to bend freely while absorbing vibrations and increasing power, forgiveness and performance
- Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski—more aggressive in the tip, less aggressive in the tail
- The progressive sidecut results in confident, quick turn initiation in hard snow and easy release in crud and powder
- Powder tip places the widest point of the ski further back than on other K2 skis, resulting in excellent stability and turning ease in soft snow
- Designed for 90% ungroomed and 10% groomed skiing
- A percentage of all Coomba sales will be donated to the Coombs family
- K2 will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Mountain Guide Association's fund focused on improving guide education and safety
