I purchased my Hoka Clifton 9 in November 2024 at HOKA online, and according to their website, the shoes come with a 1-year warranty. Unfortunately, that promise doesn’t seem to hold true. By June 2025, the rubber sole was already peeling off, despite the fact that I only used the shoes indoors—mostly for walking and light treadmill use. I paid $16 out of pocket to ship the defective pair back, only to have them returned to me with a denial notice, stating I hadn’t provided proof of purchase. When I followed up with customer service, they then changed the reason to "wear and tear." Let me be clear: - The shoes were never used outdoors. - They were clean, with only minor scuffing from normal indoor use. - I do have proof of purchase and offered to send it. - No one from customer service has responded to my follow-up email. This whole experience has been frustrating and disappointing. I expected better from a brand that claims to stand behind its products. Sadly, I won’t be buying Hoka again.
I actually like these shoes. I've been wearing them for work and they are very comfortable and keep my feet from hurting. BUT it hasn't even been 2 months and the rubber pieces are coming off the sole. Very disappointing. I've never had that happen with tennis shoes for atleast a year or more.
Great walking shoes, I get my 10k steps in a day with these guys and never have issues. I broke my back about 15 years ago and these provide great stability so I don’t hurt after walking!
I have worn these shoes to the gym only for 1 month. A piece of the sole has come off under the ball of the foot. And the tongue of the shoe is so thick at the edges it irritates the ankle area. Clifton 8s were hands down a better shoe.
I have worn several pairs of hokas, and this particular pair i bought from rei, came apart in one month. Rei told me since I’m past the 2 week window, there is nothing they can do. I am highly disappointed.
My daughter wore these for a month (no running). The sole delaminated. Hoka says this is normal wear and tear, with an exclamation. Ha! I’ve put over 2,000 miles on 4 pairs of Hoka. No more.
These shoes are comfortable, but I have worn them for maybe 80 miles total and the soles are starting to peel off.
Despite my biggest hopes, my wife did not turn into a runner. After slowly slipping into a semi pudgy, sedentary lifestyle, these shoes did not inspire her to become a medium to long distance runner. She finds them hellaciously comfortable, yet doesn’t feel the need to go hard in the least. So, from here on out it will be known as Tankini season in our household…
after two months of daily use the bottom tread began to delaminate. Ive had several other Hoka running shoes that hold up just fine but the Clifton treads certainly didn't in this case.
Hokas are the best. Whether you have foot problems or just looking for a super comfortable, lightweight tennis shoe. These are it. Own 5 pairs and these will be my choice forever
