REI! Please don't discontinue these pants
Finally I found convertible pants without zippers and buttons. Materials are stretchy and very comfortable. My only complaint is they don't offer other lengths. I'm 5'2", and it's kinda long for me. I usually wear short inseam with other brands. Hope they will offer more colors. I hope REI won't discontinue these pants.

Bad zippers
The pants themselves are really nice and I want to love them. However there’s nothing between the large metal zipper and your flesh. As you hike the metal just rubs against your skin and causes extreme chafing. They are absolutely useless and a waste.

Uncomfortable and Unflattering

Unfortunately, these pants will have to go back. They are made with a thin, somewhat stretchy material, and the length is good (5'9"). The material accentuates every bulge. They are high-waisted, sitting right at the navel, but the side panels at the waist have no rigidity and show a muffin-puff. They are snug in the thigh and not flattering when sitting down. The zippers are a bit scratchy and tight, as well, so they are uncomfortable. I bought my normal size (L), but I don't think sizing up is going to help due to the fabric.

Keep looking

If you're looking for pants where the lower leg has a full zipper to make it easy to get them off...keep looking. These aren't them. No side zipper at all so you have to take off your hiking boots to remove the lower leg. Seriously, who wants that?

No Side Zipper

Sadly, these do not have a zipper on the side of the lower leg. So you have to TAKE OFF YOUR HIKING BOOTS to actually remove the pant leg. I mistook the thick looking side seam to be a zipper. Not what I was looking for. So disappointed. If they ever redesigned these - put 2 cargo pockets and make them deep enough to actually hold a phone. Back pockets would be nice. And of course - side zippers on the lower legs for easy removal.

two strikes

I never actually tried these on. I ordered a size small online and received a size large. I returned them to the store nearest me and the very nice clerk placed an order for a replacement size small. When this package arrived I once again received a size large. At this point when I returned them to the store I just asked for a refund.

Comfortable but a little snug in the Leg

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Theses are very comfortable pants but a little snug where the shorts are attached, but not super tight. I am in the process of losing 5-10 lbs, so these work for me. However, for a loose fit, size up. I am 5'2 and weigh 155. I ordered medium. I am satisfied with the overall purchase.

I wanted to like them

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the medium first which was to tight around the waist and okay around the thigh where the zipper is. Sized up to a large and the waist was huge while the zipper around the thighs were way tighter than the mediums. Debating on if I should return the larges too.

Convenient and comfortable

The material is light and comfortable, but the zipper area is a little scratchy on my legs. It is nice to have convertible pants while hiking.

Returning them.

I’m returning these because the zipper for making these convertible was rubbing on my legs. My daughter tried them and had the same problem and though we wear the same size, we are shaped very differently.
