Straps can't support the weight of laptop
I really really want to love this bag. The pattern is fantastic and generally it is very well made. However, the straps that attach it to my rear rack are fabric / elastic, and can't support the weight of my laptop and tore after about 1 month of use. I commute about 10 miles round trip by EBike and purchased this bag as a work bag. Generally it needed to hold my laptop, lunch, wallet, keys, maybe a change of shorts. The bag will fit all of these things in it, no problem, but after about a month of regular use, the grommets attaching the straps to the bag tore through the outer fabric of the bag itself and disappeared. I can't risk my work laptop crashing to the road on my commute, so returned it hoping it was a manufacturer's defect and purchased a second one. As I mentioned, I really really wanted to love this bag. Second bag had the exact same failure in about the exact same amount of time. If the bike rack attachment straps were better reinforced, this bag would be perfect. As it is, I had to swap for something else. I gave it two stars rather than 1 star because I have faith that if it wasn't loaded down every time you used it, the straps wouldn't fail the same way and it would probably be a great bag.
Great for commuting and travel!
This bag has everything you would expect of a backpack - and then it's also a pannier! The organization pockets are all generous. I was not worried about my coffee thermos popping out of the side pocket during my ride. I love that I can zip my laptop into the laptop pocket to keep it secure. The magnetic attachment system is really easy to use, and I appreciate that I cannot feel the buckles against my back when I am wearing the bag. I also travel overseas for work, and this bag has already proven to be a great airplane carry-on and do-it-all day bag. I think the material and construction are really durable and I am actually looking forward to some rain so I can deploy the rain cover.
I'm totally a backpack pannier person now
I LOVE the capacity of the Bedford - I can fit my normal work stuff (laptop, chargers, wallet, notebook, etc) AND all my reusable food containers (apparently I eat a lot throughout the day) AND extra accessories like different weights of gloves and hats (weather has been so weird lately). I also like the pocket arrangement. The main compartment is pretty open which helps with packing bigger things, and the organization pockets for smaller things are in a separate area. I find this keeps things more organized. I was a little worried about the pannier attachment straps being uncomfortable when I was wearing as a backpack but I don't feel them AT ALL. I really love the ease and simplicity of the magnetic buckles. They feel very secure and the mechanism works on my e-bike without a problem.
Po Campo is ALWAYS on-point
This is the fourth Po Campo bag I've bought over several years. They're all extremely thoughtful and well-made, and I love the bright patterns (with reflectivity built in!). I've been carrying a Po Campo backpack even when NOT biking for several years; I upgraded to this one because it's a little larger and better able to accommodate my computer, and the built-in rainfly is EPIC.
Great for the school commute
I use my Bedford as my school backpack, it holds all my stuff in its many pockets and has pretty much the exact amount of room I need. When I first got it, I was skeptical about the buckles on the back, they seemed uncomfortable, but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on. I don’t notice them at all when wearing it as a backpack. I live in a very rainy place and I’m almost always biking while it’s raining. Usually this would be a concern being as my backpack carries my computer and important papers, but the rain cover protects everything from hail and snow to a car driving through a puddle. Putting the rain cover back in its pocket is amazing, I can just shove it in, and it always fits. It usually takes less than a min to put my bag on and be on my way, and I never even think about the bag falling off, even though I go up and down multiple hills on my commute. I expect I can use this bag for many years into the future.
