Battery and Hot to touch
The battery life is disappointing—it drains extremely fast. I initially thought lowering the beep sound and turning off the LED might help, but it made no difference. The device gets warm within seconds of use, and after about two minutes, it becomes uncomfortably hot. Prolonged use makes it so hot that the mounting area underneath could potentially cause burns to someone with sensitive skin. I live in a tropical climate, which might contribute to the overheating issue, but this level of heat seems excessive. Perhaps it would perform better in a cooler environment, but that’s just speculation. Overall, the overheating and rapid battery drain make it difficult to recommend.
4 wheeling and Repo safety
I bought a hero on sale because my truck has a GoPro mount on the windshield and it’s great for off roading. Lately I’ve been using it for safety going out on repos and dealing lienholders, once I mention theyre being recorded they act more professional and less threatening because I wear it for protection both ways, it gives them a graceful reminder and once they know, they act more accountable and less likely to be a problem during the repo, thanks GoPro! Great camera!!!
Save your money and get the Mini11 instead
The camera promises to be so good, but in practice it's a disappointment. Modes: The marketing literature suggests support for 4k, 1440 and 1080 video. This is a false statement. The camera ONLY supports 4k-30 fisheye. There are no settings or ability to adjust what the camera will record. App: The camera forces the use of the app. It will not function as a standalone camera without it. So, for field use where there's poor internet, this is problematic. Basically, if you are looking for a simple, high quality, easy to use camera with no frills that just works -- this isn't it. The Mini11 is closer to that goal, though it suffers any number of issues with lockups on charging and other niggles it's not perfect either. Why won't they just make an updated session?
No stabilization for windows desktop
There is no stabilization on the camera, it is only offered through the GoPro Quik app. This app is only available on mobile or Mac OS. I edit on a windows desktop which means I have to (1) transfer from the camera to my phone, (2) stabilize on the iOS app, then (3) upload to the cloud, then (4) download and edit. All of this also requires wi-fi. I’d much rather just take the SD card out of the camera and transfer to my PC, but then the video wouldn’t be stabilized. It’s pretty untenable and I’m considering returning.
GoPro user since 2009!
I was doing a lot of research of different brands, and still came back to GoPro. I have used the Hero 2024 camera a few times for E-skating. My previous camera was the Hero Session 5. . . . loved everything about the compact size and simplicity. The new Hero 2024 is an upgrade while still keeping it simplistic and small. The screen in the rear is an added bonus for me. Looking forward to taking it into the ocean, once an underwater housing is produced. But, definitely looking forward to using it snowboarding in 2025!
Useless and frustrating
Total garbage. As soon as the warranty period ended it turned into a paperweight and corrupted my SD card
Nothing but problems
As the title states I have had nothing but problems with this camera from the day I took it out of the box. Connection issues, upload issues, footage issues, app issues. Many of my best days have been lost due to the shoddiness of this camera's technical capabilities. I could go into detail but this review would be insanely long. I gave this thing multiple chances and I couldn't get it to work in even the simplest capacity. I would never recommend this camera to anyone as it will just disappoint you.
Nice camera
I only got this recently but so far it is good. The camera screen controls are basic- you can switch between slow motion, video and photo and a few other settings on the top screen by swiping down. Voice control does its job well. However when you get the camera you MUST have an SD card or you won’t be able to use it. Microphone is pretty bad. You have to wait a few seconds in between taking photos but overall it is a good camera!. By the way the battery runs out very fast but can be charged quickly.
Hero 4K
This camera completely bricked on my first ride. Only a couple days after receiving it. Brand new in the box from GoPro. It recorded for 51 seconds and shut down. Kept turning on and off by itself after that the same day. Then wouldn’t take a charge or turn on and completely shut down. After trying all the reset options still nothing! I see why people are leaving and walking away from GoPro! I literally got hit by a truck in the freeway riding my motorcycle the next day after it wouldn’t work and had no proof it was the other guys fault! Thanks for nothing GoPro. I also put in for a refund or replacement and haven’t heard anything back. Just straight ignoring me. I gave one star but only because you have to in order to do a review. Actually negative stars is what this garbage device is worth!
Horrible - pay more, get more
I have a Hero 9 and bought this for use on a once in a lifetime vacation. Luckily, I brought both and my husband used the Hero 9 to capture footage too because the picture quality of this camera PALES in comparison to the 9. Super disappointed. Sometimes the video is decent but don't even bother taking still shots - they are AWFUL. Definitely a case of paying more and getting better quality. I wish I had just bought the Hero 12 or 13 or whatever the newest one is, this is not worth it.
