This is a spacious, well designed bag with a roll-top closure to keep out water and a nice attachment system that quickly and easily comes on and off your bike rack. The shiny finish looks waterproof, if not exactly fashionable. But the Back-Roller Core I received is definitely not the same product that was pictured on the REI web site. The Core has a shiny finish and lacks the carrying strap; instead, the top clips attach to receivers on the slim sides of the bag. Check the Ortlieb web site for an accurate picture of this product before you order.
Great waterproof bag!
Great bag to carry lunch and a change of clothes to work! Waterproof enough to ride an hour to work in heavy rain without any dampness inside. Planning on getting a second one for even more trunk space on the bike. I’m pretty sure the issue the other reviews are mentioning with the picture on REI has been fuzzed, because when I bought this in April of 2025, I received the product shown.
Same as one of the other review here, ordered in early 2025 and it showed the more finer mesh. not the shiny material that was shipped.
tall, thick, heavy
It may be too early to tell but it seems good. It adapts to most bike racks and will probably stay on if attached properly. It opens quite tall. Has no secondary pockets so small items in the bottom may be hard to see or get at. I wish there was a smaller, more accessible pocket. Thick, heavy waterproof material and rugged frame make it pretty heavy. This version did not come with a shoulder strap but has generous loops to attach my own to.
