Took these out on a 6.5 mile run right out of the box. I'm a muscular 6'3" 200 lbs, so not a typical jockey size skinny runner. I also tore my meniscus a year and a half ago (with subsequent surgery) so that knee can get aggravated esp on the road. My first run out of the box in these shoes (6.5 miles at 8:53 min / mile - easy pace for me) was the first asphalt / concrete run since my meniscus injury that did not hurt my knee; I've been limited to running on trails which pound the joints less. I LOVE these shoes so much. Protective, not mushy, smooth smooth smooth, and can pick up the pace if you want. I cannot recommend these enough!
I’ve been running regularly for 7 years but always in less-than-ideal or even second-hand shoes. I decided to run the OC Marathon this year and since I had a dividend and a Christmas gift card, I also decided to do it in real running shoes. I ended up purchasing these Bondi 9s just four days before the marathon. I ran a 2 mile test around my block and they felt great. Same with the pre-marathon 5k. I was optimistic about my first ever marathon the following morning and it was not misplaced! The shoes were fabulous and I finished near midpack! Despite their newness, I had no blisters or foot pain. Not only that, within two days I was fully recovered which was wild since my 12-16 mile training runs often required 7-10 days for my knees to fully recover using my old shoes. These shoes are amazing. I only wish I’d not waited so long. I generally wear a size 11 but ended up purchasing a size 10 because I preferred the snug fit. I do not regret that decision at all. I could not be happier and would highly recommend the Hoka Bondi 9s to anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish running shoe.
Halle the manger in Westbrook Maine was hostile and extremely unprofessional. She told me this is normal for this shoe to fall apart in three weeks . She also said she doesn’t not reccomend them at all. Even tho her staff pushed these shoes on me. I have been wearing hokas for over 6 years and never had this happen. I was gonna try new balance but was pushed to these shoes which i did enjoy until my foot fell through the mesh. I still have yet to hear back from cooperate. I have purchased over 7 pairs of bondi hokas and hope this can be resolved this should be passed up to the regional manger of Maine so Halle can learn about customer service. This is my first ever attempt at a return and am very disappointed
7 years ago I decided to start running again for exercise. At the time I bought my first pair of Hokas at my local REI store, upon recommendation from the REI associate in the footwear section. I have worn Hokas ever since then, and I credit the comfort and design of their shoes with the fact that I continue to be able to run pain-free and without the injuries I used to experience. Today I just finished my first 3 mile run in my new pair of Bondi 9's. Wow. Even though I have come to appreciate the cushiony ride of Hoka running shoes, I was beyond impressed with the feel of my new Bondi 9's. I am a Hoka customer for life :-).
Big spilts on the sides of both shoes. Just walked no running. REI used to sell quality products.
I’ve had both knees replaced and I walk 3 to 4 miles daily with my dog. I wore out my Bondi eight and bought exactly the same size in a Bondi nine. My new shoes are unbelievably comfortable and they are not as wide on the soul as the old ones making it easier to drive and exercise. I highly recommend the new Hoka Bondi nine and will enjoy every mile. I walk in them.
The foam is so thick on these that I had zero ground feel. Furthermore this would lead to having little feeling in my feet. I have never lost toe nails until wearing these shoes. The big thing was that I did not feel any issues with my toes while running. As soon as I stopped I could tell there were problems. I ran a marathon and trained for a 50k in these. After my last long run in these (with two bruised toe nails) I retired these shoes. I would not recommend these shoes due to the lack of ground feel and the numbness I experience in my feet. Before this I wore Clifton’s without issue. I guess I should have stuck with the Clifton.
The sole of the Bondi Road-Running shoe has peeled back off the shoe after only 3 months.
I am over 60 and am doing a 90-day challenge that involves two workouts a day with at least one being outdoors. For my outdoor workout, I am walking every day (twice on Sunday) and when I first started the challenge (05 January 2026) I was just wearing my regular outdoor shoes (Sketchers slip-ons) which were find for general use, but did NOT provide any sort of ankle support and were shredding my achilles tendons. I was given an REI gift card for Christmas and decided I needed better shoes for my daily walks! After a bunch of research, I went to REI Boulder and started looking at my top two candidates. Marcus helped me as I was evaluating my options. One of my criteria was that the shoe had to have a removable insole to allow for my Aetrex orthotics. The shoes that I thought were going to be the #1 choice (Brooks Ghost Max 3.0) were comfortable with the orthotic insoles...but the Hoka Bondi 9 were just a better overall fit for my feet with the Aetrex orthotic insoles installed. Since I started using the shoes for my daily walks (January 18th, 2026), I have walked 124.9 miles with the Bondi 9's and have thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and support of these shoes!
These shoes are excellent for those who want foot and lower back relief when standing is required for long stretches. My feet used to ache after a long day of stand and my back would often start to cramp up after a couple of hours. These shoes have totally reversed this and I can do much more painful free walking around town and shopping. Durability is an issue as I rarely get more than a year before the soft sole starts to deteriorate. I track my activity walk less than 1500 miles per year. If you’re running 10 miles a day then you would want better sole durability. It’d be nice to have more natural colors and fewer clown colors. Go for the wide as they do run narrow.
