Great pair of shoes, I just bought a second pair 1 year in just to have a more casual use pair. My first pair are in good usable shape still. They hold up well to torment. I end up getting a small slit cut on the quarter panel but it didnt expand or penetrate the inner lining. The rubber on the toe was the first to get gummed up but everything else is solid. I sized up to add my personal insoles and works great, they run small but not very much imo.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was surprised from the get go when I tried these. Toe box is wide enough for me since I have tailor bunions on both feet and the fabric is flexible and soft. Outsole looks rugged. So far I’ve used them for walking around the city not adventures, perhaps they wont be my first choice for the latter since their not waterproof. But very happy all in all.
First, who am I and why should believe me: I’m 73 and (age-adjusted) in good shape. I’ve been hiking and scrambling for more than 65 years, and have seen many changes in boots and shoes over my lifetime. One of the best changes I’ve seen is the plethora of trail runners replacing large, clunky boots. Hallelujah! A lot of my hiking is in fairly dry conditions over rocky trails (I live in Colorado’s Front Range). The advent of comfortable, flexible and clingy rubber has been a joy for me. I can ascend and descent rock that my boots would never handle. These shoes have such features. My other go-to shoe is the old style Topo Terraventure (when I heard that DSW bought TOPO, I quickly bought 2 more pairs of them before DSW changed the design (which they did). So if you’re familiar with Topos, you have an idea of what fits me. And FIT IS EVERYTHING in a shoe. Features are meaningless if your feet hurt. I was surprised to find that, while not as comfortable as Topos (leather upper vs cloth) they are very comfortable. I’ve made custom insole changes that some shoes would not accommodate: I first put in a Pedifix 3/4 heel cup/arch/metatarsal support. On top of that is a thick gel (not foam) layer cheaply sourced from Amazon. I was very pleased to find that the heel area of the show allowed for this extra thickness (I always toss the terrible insoles shoes come with). Performance: as previously stated, excellent on rock, dirt, and very light snow. 5 stars for that. The lugs are the most plentiful and thickest I’ve seen in any hiking shoe. In fact, on rock, I would not want them any thicker, as they would bend and lose grip). Build quality: I’ve put maybe 50 miles on them so far, and they’ve held up very well except for one strange thing—Keen exposed the EVA cushioning in the toe area, and it’s deteriorating slowly, as I catch a toe on a rock periodically. So far, it’s not a big deal, and there is a small sole toe-bumper wrap glued to the EVA (too small in my opinion). The exposed EVA is only about 8cm at the toe and, as it wears, I just clip off the little roughened nurdles. If Keen had extended the sole’s toe cap higher up to meet the stitched plastic toe protection, I’d have given these shoes a 5-star rating. But one star off for the design flaw. One final bit of advice: these come in a normally sueded leather and a weird hairy leather upper. I can see that hairy upper gathering all sorts of detritus. I advise you to stick to the relatively smooth style leather. But all in all, highly recommended if they fit you. Bring your own insoles into the store with you. Photos: as you can see, the sole pattern is very aggressive and fairly tightly packed with lugs. This lug pattern may not be such a good thing in sticky mud, as the mud may become trapped between the lugs. The Topo lug pattern is good for mud. Another photo shoes the wearing of the EVA at the toe. Another shows the lug pattern in about an inch of new snow. One reviewer sited that they’re not waterproof as a negative. Well, thru-hikers hate “waterproof” shoes as they dry much more slowly after river crossings. And this I’ve found: there is no such thing as “waterproof.” The PTFE (goreTex or otherwise) only lasts me about 3 seasons anyway, as no membrane can last very long after so many thousands of flexings. Since I don’t have in the rain anymore (I got tired of slogging out in rainstorms years ago), the lack of “waterproofing” is not the least bit negative to me. And, as with any leather upper (especially sueded ones), you can always apply your own water-resistant coating as you like. One caveat to that: once a slippery silicone or other shoe grease is applied, one will not be able to re-glue a flapping, come-loose toe cap back on. Please forgive any typos. REI’s little review box makes proofreading quite difficult.
Really wanted to like these. They’re comfortable and look great, but after wearing them for a single day the sole began to delaminate at the heel. Something I could probably fix with a little shoe goo, but frustrating that a brand new shoe should require it.

Just picked up a pair of Keen Jasper Zionic shoes, and I’m seriously impressed. The color combo pops without being over the top, and the fit is dialed in—snug where it counts, roomy where it matters. They’re incredibly lightweight, which makes them perfect for long days on the move, whether I’m hitting the trail or running errands around town. I’ve been rocking Keen sandals for years, and these shoes carry that same legacy of comfort and quality. The Jasper Zionic blends climbing-inspired design with trail-ready performance, and it shows. Keen continues to deliver gear that feels great and lasts. Big fan.
Bought a pair of these and had them for about two weeks. The left shoe felt like the sole had been set in unleveled, making my ankle feel like it was pronating inwards which was super weird because I’d never experienced that in a shoe before, nor have I ever had any ankle problems. I returned them to the store with no problem and out of curiosity tried two different pairs - one in a different color and one of the same color I bought in a different size and both felt like they had the same issue on the left foot heel feeling not flat. Bummer because I think these shoes look cool and the right shoe was pretty comfy. This could totally be a me thing on my left foot…but I’ve also worn more than one pair of shoes in my day and have never had an issue like this. I hope they work for you!
I recently bought the Jasper Zionic Sneaker x Gramicci and couldn't be more happy with my purchase. For background, I work in a brewery up in Vermont, and am often on my feet for eight or more hours. These shoes are extremely supportive and are proving hardy enough to tackle the warehouse, plus I've been getting lots of compliments in the taproom. Out of the box comfort and very well made. Sizing is dead on and the style is worth the investment.
Keen delivers again! These sneakers are so comfortable. I have a one year old Bernedoodle that needs 2 to 3 mile walks almost everyday to knock her energy level down. These shoes are great to walk in. They have great heel cushion and the bottom has outstanding traction on concrete, asphalt, and gravel surfaces. I have a wide foot and these are not wide shoes but they are very comfortable on my feet. I highly recommend them!
I would have given this show and the purchase experience five stars but the material is what held me back. The show is comfortable and light but that fuzzy material collects all kinds of dead plant material and seeds. After the hike is dang near impossible to get it all cleaned out of the fuzzies. I’m a big Keen fan and will buy this shoe again but with a different exterior material. Everything else is perfect.
