Quality jacket
Jacket seems to be constructed very well. For me it was difficult to adjust the hood when not wearing a helmet. I will probably never be wearing a helmet so I think I am going to look for something else. Runs fairly long.

Too loud to tolerate.
Fabric is too loud for me to tolerate. Zipper gutter meets with a stiff edge and pokes into chin; quite rude. Not nearly the thoughtful Patagonia design I'd expected.

Fits good but kind of tight in the waist

I like how it fits but I would prefer a littler wider in the waist to feel more comfortable with the layers

Small at hips

This jacket is small around hips/butt. I measured on the smallest side of the Large according to the Patagonia size chart and the jacket only just fits over my butt but is loose in the upper area including chest and shoulders. I am a typical hourglass, not overly large on the bottom compared to most women. It's incredibly frustrating that this jacket seems to be shaped for men but is billed as a woman's jacket. The H2No is always great quality so overall a great jacket (hence 4 stars), just sick of this problem.

Sloppy zipper, good coat

I purchased this coat for backpacking in rain during colder weather, which it worked for. Unfortunately, the zipper tore the plastic seam along the length of the front of the coat within the first couple of times zipping. Works fine, but the waterproofing could be compromised along the zipper now, not to mention it looks sloppy. Expected better quality from Patagonia.

Great jacket but..

I've used this jacket as shell for resort skiing, ski touring, mountaineering, hiking and just a jacket around town, and I really, really like it. Love the color and love the fit. It is water resistant enough for an all day outing in the harsh PNW winter and dries very quickly if it wets out. It's also very light and packs down reasonably small in the front breast pocket. BUT.. I've only had it about a year and the waterproof seams are already falling apart on the inside of the jacket. Maybe it's just that I've used it for close to 100 days in the mountains, but I'm bummed that it's coming apart at the seams. Maybe I can just repair it and see a lot more life out of it. The outer portion of the shell has been very durable and shows very little signs of wear. I'd love to be able to get the cost down below $1 per day outside before I have to retire it.

H2 - YES

After much research, I picked this beautiful raincoat. On the sleeve it says H2NO...I must have got a defective coat because it was H2 YES! I went on a 10-mile hike in light rain and by the end of my hike, I was completely drenched. Cold and wet! I called REI to arrange an exchange because I love this jacket's look and features and they advised me to find another jacket that had GoreTex. Not sure why a rain jacket should have issues keeping me dry if it isn't GoreTex.

Under Arm Vents 10/10

For sizing reference I'm 5'8" 225 and the XL fit comfortably. I've been failing to find a high quality fully waterproof rain jacket without spending a ton of money. Ive gone through multiple brands with miserable results. Tried this out for a few hours in the rain with happy results. The vents under the arm are extra amazing for keeping cool/dry while zipped up.

r

I bought this to replace a Patagonia Rainshadow jacket. Right away I liked the fabric and fit. It has a soft feeling both inside and out. This jacket is much more packable than the Rainshadow or torrent shell and quieter. The hood is big but very adjustable and comfortable once you get it adjusted for your body. Have not had any issues with zippers and the pockets feel well placed and are good size. Stayed dry in the rain over the weekend. Would have preferred a darker color but for the price it meets my needs. I was debating between this Granite crest and the more pricy Storm10. Glad I tried the Granite crest first. A plus with the Granite crest is that it has pit zips. In our opinion, Patagonia offers great products and always stands behind them.

Very waterproof

Have worn on a few hikes now. Very waterproof. Definitely need the pit zips when moving quickly in warmsih (60 degree) weather during rain, but they work well. Good hood. Comfy zipper placement and feel. Wish it had one interior chest pocket, but otherwise has been great. Not sure it would be very comfy in a rainstorm during an 80 degree day though, would probably be hot and sweaty.

not waterproof!

Thank goodness I took this out in the rain for a practice hike one week before heading out of the country on a trek. Much to my dismay in steady rain, yet not a downpour, this jacket did not keep my under layers. Dry! Things in my pocket were wet. Truly terrible.
