Pros: -Finally a green that folks who like to be in the forest can enjoy! I'm so tired of Lime, mint, burnt orange etc. -Fairly comfortable chair for the type. Persons 5'3" 160 lbs and 5' 10" 180 lbs, 31-32 inch inseams -Nice that it collapses to a smaller size. We needed chairs that would fit in our limited space for car camping and our teardrop trailer storage box. Good for tabling events when we volunteer. -Cup holder is great! I don't mess around with wimpy water bottles and and camp cups. The chair arm cup holders are just the size to fit a quart water bottle and large camp cup. -Chair fits into the stuff sack nicely with room to spare. -Mesh is good for warm weather. A double plus is that it makes the chair easy to clean by letting sand, dust, ash, and liquids fall through. Spraying with your hose when you get home makes it a breeze to wash and it dries a bit faster too. Cons: -Stuff sack is durable and fits the chair for carry but that webbing loop over the opening end, not so good. The chair will get stuck on it every time you try to slide the chair out of the bag. I think it was a good idea for some use cases but I found it so frustrating that I cut it off and melted down the ends to keep it from catching on the chair. -The mesh will keep you a tad cooler. But, that's why you pack layers, right?
I bought this chair a couple of years ago, and it's been great for taking on the road. I also have a much more comfortable chair, but it's bulky, heavy, and awkward to carry any distance. This chair fills a specific niche—it stays in the bed of my truck under the tonneau cover, and it's lightweight, easy to carry, and comfortable enough for my son's sporting events. I'm not taking naps in it—it’s not that kind of comfortable—but it’s perfect for what I need.
Great chair. Built well comfortable and outlasts similar chairs from other retail outlets by years. I used these chairs quite a bit outside on the patio, sporting events, and camping. They saw an unreasonable time in the sun on the back patio before they finally gave out. Worth the extra money.
I'm 5'4" the back hits me in a most uncomfortable spot. Will b returning
I got this chair recently when it was 30% off, and so far I love it. It comes in "alpine green" or a sunburnt orange color, and I got the green. On REI's site they are listed as 2 separate chairs, but as far as I can tell, they are the same chair just in different colors and with a very slight difference in the type of metal in the legs. I sat in both the orange and green in the store, and couldn't tell a difference. So I guess you could get some of each if you wanted color variation. Anyway...its mesh body is supposed to be good for keeping you cool during the hot months. This is not a winter camping chair, but I only camp during spring-summer-fall anyway. If it's chilly, I will just wear sweatpants or line the seat w/ a blanket. The cupholder is sort of a rounded, elongated triangle shape, so that you can fit a bigger cup or a small bottle. I was skeptical if this would tip my drinks over because they end up leaning toward or away from you, but actually it seems to work fine. If it bothers you you can stuff something in the corner to make the drink more upright. To get the most mileage out of it, keep it stored indoors and out of the sun when you don't need it. I assume that if you leave it outside year-round, it will deteriorate faster. If you can get this when it's on sale, I think the price is fair.
We love these chairs. These were purchased to replace basically the same chairs that gave us 10 years of use. we used these chairs for many camping trips, day outings and youth sporting events. These chairs may be slightly heavier than newer models available today, but are very easy to unbag/bag and carry.
I was skeptical of the mesh seat, but it’s really held up well. My husband loves it and we’ve taken it camping a few times - still looks like new!
Very comfortable. I had been looking for a quality and comfy chair for awhile and finally found it.
