- Great for bow, stern or solo paddlers; ideal for long-distance flatwater trips and those prioritizing weight or performance over economy
- Bent shaft design allows the blade to pull more easily perpendicular to the water for a more efficient forward stroke, while still being capable of J-strokes for correction
- Bouyant foam core carbon blade is mid-sized, offering enough surface area to easily maneuver the canoe without being overly fatiguing on longer trips
- Slight dihedral added to the power face of blade allows for smoother, more efficient forward strokes
- Knife-like edge makes correctional strokes quiet and smooth
- Nylon-weave tip protection seals in the carbon blade and prolongs the life of the paddle
- Contoured palm grip reduces fatigue and improves power transfer
- Proudly handmade in Osceola, Wisconsin
Made in USA.

Loved it! So helpful for multiday expeditions
Really loved this paddle - took it on a 15 day 268 km trip on the Horton River in NWT Canada. So light! Really helped on long paddling days. When my tripmates tried it (and I had their heavier, straight shaft paddles) I could really feel the difference. Did get some superficial scratches when the river got braided and shallow. Air Canada didn't charge extra - they treated it in my NRS paddle bag the same as a ski bag which when paired with another bag is an not extra charge.
Surprisingly positive on first use
Have just used for one day. I took a high-end Bending Branches wood paddle (Sunburst) along for a direct comparison on a class 1 meandering river. I weigh my new 54" Black Pearl paddle at 14.3 oz., and the Sunburst at 18.4 oz, which seems inconsequential, but it feels like a log in the hand in comparison. My only concern about the Black Pearl is durability, as the edgeguard is almost indiscernible, so I'll be very carefully touching anything but water or soft materials with this one.
