run small
Unfortunately my usual size, women's 8.5, fits a bit tight. It also felt like the toe box wasn't roomy like Merrell shoes used to be. Their toe boxes used to be roomy and comfortable, leaving plenty of room to wiggle my toes without constriction. Just looking at these, it seems like a more constrictive design in the toe box than their shoes used to have, which is a shame. Still, I have ordered a size larger and I'm hoping for the best. They don't feel especially cushioned, but they do have some cushioning - the soles are not hard. I do appreciate that the color is all black.

Not True to Size - Too Wide
These shoes are very wide and large - they slipped off while I walked around to test them and they just felt insecure. I really like Merrell brand hiking boots, but these shoes are not for "skinny" feet. I do think the shoes are great looking and the grip was excellent. I did have to return the shoes due to the fit being too wide & the size seemed to run almost a half size too large. I would recommend for humans with a wider foot 100%.

Perfect hiking shoes

Bought these as a backup pair for a hiking trip up mountains in Red Rocks, JTree, and Zion. Ended up being the only pair I wore and I’d recommend them to anyone. I have narrow feet and a high arch and the support was perfect. They held up to wet mud and loose gravel easily and kept my feet warm and dry when worn with good quality wool socks. I’m usually a size 7.5 but had to exchange them for a size 8.

Comfortable and sturdy

Hard ti compare to any other hiking shoes since this is my first pair of this type of shoe, but they were comfortable and felt very sturdy with good support. Hiked in Death Valley over sand dunes and salt beds mostly and desert terrain, nothing crazy but felt very good walking/hiking in them. Only gripe I have is that they are a pain to take off/on. Once on, don’t plan on taking them on/off often as it was difficult due to the precise fit of the shoes.

Great Hiking Shoe.

Amazingly comfortable hiking shoe. Took to both rocky and slippery terrain, and quickly felt confident in the grip. Used this shoe for two straight weeks with no break in time, and it served me well, without an instance of foot pain or blisters. Runs a tad bit big for my usual size, returned my normal size for a half size down. Might have fit a whole size down, but with good socks for cold weather, the half size down worked fine.

Moab Speed review - very decent hiking shoe!

This is a great and comfortable hiking shoe with lots of support and cushioning in the sole. I’m taking off one star because I find the foot hole to be a bit too big so there is minimal ankle support. I am going to get some arch support inserts for these shoes (because even though there is good support, I have high arches and could feel the wear on them after a day of hiking) and I’m hoping that might help reposition my foot in the hiking shoe so that it doesn’t feel as loose in the ankle. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing to break these in on many hikes throughout the summer!

No bellows tongue?

One of the features of this shoe is supposed to be a bellows tongue to keep out debris. However my shoes arrived today and the tongue is detached at the sides (see photo 1), not attached like a bellows (see example photo 2). Have reached out to customer service.

Showing signs of premature wear

I have worn these shoes on four short hikes/approaches to go climbing. They are already showing quite a bit of wear. I was hoping that these would last for a few seasons especially since I am not using them for longer day hikes.

Great support/traction in a light sneaker-shoe

Ive benn a Moab wearer for years but sometimes I just want a lighter shoe. Moab Speed is the perfect choice for walking around town or a full day hiking.
