Good design - not so sure about the seams

I like the design shaped to fit the back rollers. I bought one set just used them on a short weekend trip. I liked how easily they dropped in and lifted out. The interior and exterior mesh pocket are useful too. I am a little worried about the construction though, as it seems the fabric is already starting to run/strain along the zipper on the top one. I didn't overstuff it. This is unfortunate, because a good packing cube should really let you pack stuff in there and stay strong (that's why I'll probably stick with my Eagle Creeks in the other pannier.)

Light weight, functional (within design limits)

If you're worried about the weight of these cubes, you should probably reconsider your trip plans. The set I got were well constructed and they do, indeed, fit exactly within Ortleib panniers. They ARE NOT stuff sacks! The material is very lightweight and straining the seams/zippers or anything sharp is problematic, but use them for clothes, shoes and (as the bottom one is obviously intended) a personal "kit" bag and they'll make touring with big, waterproof shopping bags much more convenient. Pull out the bag you need, the rest stay perfectly organized - as advertised. The fit is so exact that the outer mesh pockets are only really practical for thin, flat things. The internal pockets are more useful. Two major things to keep in mind - they seem to be meant to be used together and while they can be separated into different panniers it doesn't make much sense to do so; and they ARE NOT waterproof! Actually, they wick water almost instantly, so anything wet in the cube will transfer to the outside and from there to everything else in the pannier. Fortunately, they also dry quickly if they do get wet. I don't consider this a flaw since Ortleib's are basically dry-sacks and there's no need to waterproof bags inside a waterproof bag (not to mention the extra weight). I was concerned about balancing the panniers using the cubes on one side and putting the other odd-shaped stuff (sleeping bag, tent, pad & such) in the other, but they ended up weighing the same - at least as close as my scale measures. Can't guarantee that would be the case for everybody, but they worked for me.

Not Rugged Enough for Actual Use

Good in theory, not so good in application. Half-way through a 3-week bike trip, 2 of the cubes ripped lengthwise on one side just down from the zippers, pretty much along the seams. They do a good job of compartmentalizing things, but I'm going back to using sturdier stuff sacks.

Makes packing the pannier even easier!

Pronounced PAN-YAY and not PAN-EAR!!! I have traveled the world with my Ortliebs and love them. You all know they are bomb-proof. These packing cubes take packing and unpacking (finding) your gear even easier. The joys of packing cubes have made it to the pannier! YAY! Get some. You won't be disappointed.
