Terrible terrible design and fit

The inner brief is only about 2 inches wide from the seam at the bottom and up the front. Your privates do not stay in. See the photo compared to a Columbia running short ; yes, that really is the front "pouch" of both shorts. I had to double check to be sure I hadn't bought a woman's short by mistake. They are simply not wearable.

Makes for great all purpose shorts

I purchased these shorts on a whim while I was shopping at REI and they're one of my favorite purchases so far. The material is lightweight and soft and dries off very quickly. I wear them when lifting at gym, running, and swimming. It is my primary backpacking shorts; I don't wear anything else now. It comes with a netting inside the shorts so I don't even wear underwear with them anymore! The length of the shorts is perfect. Not too long where it impedes your motion and not too short where the world has to see all of my blinding white thighs.

Look great, but fit awful

Had to return them because even though I like how they look, the inner liner is way too tight.

Used these for Tough Mudder

Some nice shorts they dry, fit, and are comfortable to wear. They also have a nice lining built in. Wished they had a small pocket inside the big pocket for my chapstick other than that love them!!

Light, cool, shorts with pockets

The best lined light, cool shorts that dry quickly. Two side pockets and one right hip zipper pocket for keys, credit cards, room key or money. The draw string helps keep the shorts on in case swimming activity after a run or walk.

Confortalble work out shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not a runner but do elliptical every day to keep myself in shape... I love these shorts and have several pair. Great price point and usability plus I need something loose for shorts as I have built a nice set of muscles in my upper legs and a lot of things are to tight on my thighs. This casues an issue because they either need to stop high or cover them completely with compression. I usually wear Nike Pro tights or these shorts to work out great job Nike!

Comfortable for the long run

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a couple pairs of these now, and I really love them both. The pockets are a good size for holding things pre- and post-run, and the inner pocket is perfect for holding energy chews on longer runs. The support is much appreciated—I've had minimal issues with discomfort, and that only coming on >8 mile runs on humid days. Otherwise, these are great. The length is good, the fit is good—will consider when buying again.

Running Shorts

I have always bought Nike Medium running shorts, but when I tried these latest Challenger shorts the inner liner was way too tight. But the Large shorts are way too big. I guess I will have to try another brand.

Challenge Accepted

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are the bee's knees! They perform great on a run & they look great when I'm just wearing them around. They're so light & don't hinder any part of my running. The liner is a little tight for my liking, but I don't notice it when I'm running, I have a few pairs of previous versions of the Challenger & these are by far my favorite pair. My favorite feature is the huge Swoosh.

Liner is small and where did the zipper pocket go?!

I run almost exclusively in 5" challenger shorts from previous iterations. This year I purchased a pair on sight alone and realized that as other reviewers have stated, the liner is compression-esque. They also have removed the rear zipper pocket which was a great place to stash a Gu and keys so that they would stay safe. Now the only place to get a zipper is in the next price point up.
