Nov 3, 2010

Contemplating the perfect gift idea? REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), a national retailer providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, is stocked with the latest great gift ideas to help adventurers get outside this winter. Visit REI stores or the REI Holiday Gift Center for the latest selection of outdoor gear and apparel ideas to keep the entire family warm and stylish this season.

With hundreds of quality, top brands and products, including Vibram’s Five Finger Shoes, The North Face Cat’s Meow Sleeping bag, and Marmot’s PreCip Jacket, plus its 100 percent satisfaction guarantee, REI is an excellent choice and convenient one-stop shop for winter and holiday shopping. REI also offers new designs for fall and winter from its in-house, award-winning Gear & Apparel line.

Win your wish list. In addition to shopping for others, REI members and customers can also create and update their own holiday wish lists on REI.com. Starting Dec. 1, REI will randomly select one item from a lucky winners’ wish list each day for 14 consecutive days. Recipients will be notified via email, and on REI’s social media outlets including Facebook and Twitter. Gifts will be shipped to the winner’s choice of destination within the United States.

Shopping on the go? REI.com’s new iPhone application can help. In addition to the popular Snow and Ski Report application, iPhone customers will soon be able to download a new REI application on www.rei.com/apps. Browse and search for products, scan REI barcodes at the store, read product reviews online, find the closest REI store, contact customer service, purchase products, or share favorite products with friends via social networking sites and more.

Mobile shoppers with smart phones and other web-enabled devices can also enjoy an optimized shopping experience to navigate or explore gift ideas, and organize items into a wish list, through the co-op’s mobile eCommerce site, m.REI.com.

Trade in kids’ snow gear. Get the kids ready for the ski and snowboard season with quality gear from REI. Members may also bring in gently used kids’ or junior ski and snowboard gear (originally purchased at REI) and trade it in for 20 percent off the purchase of new kids’ or junior snow sports gear. For more information on the co-op’s junior snow sports trade in program available exclusively REI members, visit REI.com.

Start the holiday shopping season at REI. The first 150 customers to each of its stores at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, will receive a $20 REI gift card.

Go outside and try something new this season. REI offers a variety of winter-related in-store classes, and REI Expert Advice articles through the winter months that focus on helping families and individuals enjoy the outdoors or learn a new pastime. Through its Outdoor School programs, enthusiasts can go outdoors with an instructor and try a new outdoor hobby from climbing to snowshoeing. Visit REI’s online store locator for local class listings at a local REI.
