REI Co-op to open new store at Station Park in Farmington, Utah in fall 2019

New store will offer top-quality outdoor gear, rentals, expertise and experiences

SEATTLE – REI Co-op will open a new store in Farmington, Utah this fall, bringing a wide assortment of quality gear, equipment rentals, experiences and expertise for the region’s most popular outdoor activities including skiing, snowboarding, paddling, camping and mountain biking . The new 23,000-square-foot store will be located at the Station Park shopping center, just off Interstate 15 between Salt Lake City and Ogden. REI Farmington will also offer a specialty bike, ski and snowboard shop for customers to tune or repair their equipment before heading outside.

“We are thrilled to be adding our third location in Utah and continue to serve our more than 314,000 lifetime REI members in the state,” said Janet Hopkins, REI retail director for the mountain district. “It’s no secret that Utah is one of the best places in the country to access the outdoors and we look forward to connecting locals and visitors to the many iconic outdoor spaces in the region .”

REI Farmington will also offer workshops and guided outdoor experiences to connect people to a life outdoors. A national leader in outdoor experiences, REI helped more than 350,000 people across the country get outside last year. Upcoming programs in the area include Bear Bags and Backcountry Food Storage Workshop, Campfire Session: Backpacker’s Taste Test and Backcountry Navigation.

The co-op’s award-winning travel company also offers 17 fully guided outdoor adventures in the region. From extended three-day weekends to eight-day trips, local guides lead small groups as they explore the beauty and unique landscapes of Utah’s national parks and neighboring areas by hiking and cycling.

In addition to offering quality gear, expertise and outdoor experiences , REI actively works with nonprofits across the country to steward and maintain local trails and public lands and connect people to the outdoors. REI has been part of the Utah community for more than 35 years, and i n 2018, REI invested $ 77 , 5 00 in local outdoor nonprofits. This investment included funds for the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation , Salt Lake Climbers Alliance , Mountain Trails Foundation and Salt Lake Valley Trails Society. As REI gets closer to opening in Farmington, the co-op plans to invest further in the local outdoor community.
