REI Co-op promotes Cameron Janes to Chief Operating Officer

Specialty outdoor retailer REI Co-op on Friday announced that Cameron Janes has been promoted to chief operating officer, effective immediately. Janes steps into the role having previously served the co-op as chief commercial officer.  

“I am delighted to announce Cameron’s promotion to chief operating officer,” said Eric Artz, chief executive officer, REI. “In this new role, Cameron will continue driving forward bold initiatives to unify our operations, while placing a strong emphasis on our people-first approach. His commitment to enhancing the experience for employees, members, and customers will ensure we deliver exceptional service and connection at every touchpoint of our business.” 

As chief operating officer, Janes will extend his leadership beyond his current commercial oversight, which includes responsibility for stores, digital commerce, sales and customer support, and physical place teams. In his expanded role, he will also oversee REI's fulfillment and logistics operations, in addition to taking charge of the experiences division, the nation’s premier provider of adventure travel, day tours and classes.

Janes, who joined REI in January 2022 as senior vice president and chief commercial officer, brings a wealth of digital and physical retail experience from his previous roles at Amazon and Walmart.com.
