Taking Cooperative Action in Support of Hurricane Relief

Oct 11, 2024

We’re working to ensure all our employees are safe and accounted for in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. As part of our commitment to supporting the places where we live and recreate, REI is making direct financial donations to communities in need. We're asking REI employees, members, and customers to join us in cooperative action by making donations focused on immediate disaster relief. Together, we can respond swiftly to the increasing number of hurricanes and floods affecting our communities.

Where your donations go: Your contributions will support organizations directly aiding impacted regions:

  • Community Foundation Tampa Bay - A public charity that connects people, ideas and resources to create meaningful, lasting impact across the region including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.

  • MANNA FoodBank - A member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. MANNA serves communities across 16 counties of Western North Carolina including the Qualla Boundary through a network of hundreds of dedicated partners.

  • BeLoved Asheville - Providing essential aid to those affected by Hurricane Helene, distributing food, clothing and shelter, and offering counseling services to help individual families cope with the emotional impact of the storm.

  • Feeding the Carolinas - A network that unites the ten Feeding America Food Banks serving North and South Carolina, supporting member Food Banks to provide a healthy, adequate, and consistent food supply to every community every day.

  • East Tennessee Foundation - A public charity and community foundation created by and for the people of East Tennessee. The charity funds programs that increase community resiliency and changes lives for the better.

  • Virginia Disaster Relief Fund - Provides financial assistance to help Virginia residents recover from disasters and emergencies, including those that do not cause property damage but which require human services.

  • Florida Disaster Fund - State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities as they respond to and recover during times of emergency or disaster.

Employees, members, and customers can take part in this important effort by donating at checkout in our REI stores across the U.S. Additionally, we have partnered with the REI Cooperative Action Fund, a 501c3 nonprofit, to accept donations online. Your contribution will aid the nonprofits listed above.
