Catalina Island offers pristine beaches, secluded coves, and a network of hiking trails through unspoiled land with dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean. On this 2-day hike along the island's edge, we wind our way in and out of scenic coves looking down on azure blue waters along the west end road. This trip is perfect for anyone with a bit of hiking experience. Participants should feel comfortable carrying a 35lb pack while walking 7.7 miles each day. The pleasant trail out to Parson's Landing has minimal elevation gain and loss, making this an excellent backpacking experience for beginners or a relaxed weekend away for seasoned hikers. Along the way, we'll share insights into the island's intertwined cultural and ecological histories identifying the plants below, birds above, and marine life in the coves. After lunch on the trail, we'll descend to the beach at Parson's Landing, where we'll set up camp on the sand, refuel with a hearty dinner, and fall asleep to the sounds of crashing waves. The next morning, we'll watch the sun rise over the ocean, eat a satisfying breakfast, and retrace our route back to Two Harbors. Ferry from San Pedro and meals are included. Start and end time will vary based on Catalina Express Ferry departure times; you will receive your trip's precise meeting time via email.
