Located only 90 miles from NYC, the Shawangunks mountain range ("The Gunks") is a world-class rock climbing destination. Whether you are an experienced climber, looking to escape the gym, or are completely new to climbing, REI's expert guides will provide friendly and thorough instruction along with technical equipment for a safe and supportive climbing adventure in a relaxed learning environment. Participants will enjoy a full day of climbing in a small group (4:1 climber to guide ratio) with direct and personalized attention. Course fee covers your day pass to Peter's Kill Climbing area, located within Minnewaska State Park, where you'll be met by your guide to be fully outfitted and equipped with appropriate climbing shoes, harness, and helmet. All of REI’s Shawangunks guides and instructors are AMGA trained or certified for the terrain in which they work.
