Beloved by locals and admired by adventurers nationwide, White Oak Canyon offers pristine wilderness, invigorating hiking and ample waterfalls for viewing and splashing in. On this out and back hike through one of Shenandoah's loveliest regions, we'll explore the many falls of White Oak Canyon while keeping an eye out for the critters that call this area home. As we wind our way through a mix of casual and steep trail sections, we'll pass by up to 6 waterfalls ranging from 35 to 86 feet tall. Along the way, we'll share some hiking tips and offer insight into the region's history and ecosystem. This hike is perfect for those with a bit of prior hiking experience, as you'll need to feel comfortable gaining 2000' of elevation on uneven terrain for about 6 miles. We love this hike, and are pretty sure you will too! We provide lunch and roundtrip transportation from the REI Fairfax store.
