We'll demonstrate effective route planning, techniques for navigating around unexpected obstacles (like wildfires, landslides, outages), and relocation strategies in case you get lost. Participants should have foundational knowledge and experience with map and compass navigation, including comfort reading a topographic map and taking a bearing. REI's Backcountry Navigation with a Map and Compass Class is a suggested prerequisite.
