Introduction to Coastal Kayaking Class

This course is designed for experienced paddlers who wish to learn the nuances of navigating a coastal environment. Students will learn about appropriate gear and equipment considerations for this type of environment, how to read a tide table, and the fundamental paddle strokes to control your kayak in gentle ocean waves. Enhance your boat-handling skills with edging and bracing techniques to help prevent capsizes and build your confidence. Lastly, you'll learn how to safely exit a capsized kayak and re-enter it on the water using a paddle float, and how to T-rescue another capsized kayaker. These are foundational skills that enable you to explore coastal waters safely and responsibly.
