Overview

Prepare for the unexpected in this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine, taught by our partners at NOLS. If you work in a wilderness setting, or enjoy outdoor activities and recreation opportunities, this 16-hour course is for you! Instruction will take place in classrooms and outdoor settings regardless of weather. Course completion results in a two-year Wilderness First Aid certification.
- Understand and apply the Patient Assessment System
- Provide effective first aid treatments for common injuries and illnesses
- Learn to make appropriate evacuation decisions.
Notes
This training is 8am-5pm each day and will not require or provide overnight camping on Saturday night. When the training is over on Saturday at 5pm, we will leave the park and reconvene on Sunday morning at 8am. You will receive an email from our team with specific details before your event.

Please note that McKinney Roughs Nature Park is different than McKinney Falls State Park. Once you enter the park, you'll follow the park road for about 1/2 mile. Park in either parking lot near the park buildings. You will not need to pay an entrance fee, when participating in an REI class.
