Leapers are a great technique to use for riding through soft snow and down steep terrain. The main objective of a leaper is to change edges while you're off the ground.

Leaper Technique

As you initiate at turn, get nice and low and flex your ankles, knees and hips. Then, as you get ready to change edges, pop up and extend hard so your snowboard comes up off of the snow. That's when you change your edges.

As the new edge comes into contact with the snow, flex down to make for a nice soft landing so your snowboard can ride out smoothly and you don't put too much impact on your body.
