Geoff Irons

Sales Specialist

Sales Specialist Geoff Irons became an REI Co-op Member when he started rock climbing in 1974 and has been climbing ever since. During his 26-year career with the U.S. Army, he climbed all over the US and the Alps. After retiring from the Army in 2002, he and his wife moved to Colorado. He was hired as a REI Sales Specialist and led staff training at the Colorado Springs store as well as others. He has also taught classes at REI on numerous topics, including backpacking, avalanche safety, map & compass skills, snowshoeing, etc. Additional experience during his military career and since include: He volunteered for 35 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. He volunteered for 25 years with the National Ski Patrol (5 in Europe then 20 at Breckenridge, CO). He served 15 years with Search and Rescue teams and also became an avalanche safety educator. He has taught more than 138 Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder courses with NOLS and REI. He also taught several outdoor courses at Pikes Peak Community College.
