Currently, REI Online Accounts, REI Co-op Membership accounts and REI Email preferences are separate, but can be linked. For your convenience, we’ve answered the most common account questions. If you should need additional assistance with any of your REI information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

REI Online Account questions

What’s an REI Online Account?
An REI Online Account is a free password-protected account set up by REI.com and mobile app shoppers (members and non-members) that stores personal details, including your name, address and member number, if you have one. Your REI Online Account makes shopping faster and easier. You’ll have less information to fill out each time you make a purchase and have access to your purchase history. Creating an REI Online Account is optional and can be used by both members and non-members. Create your REI Online Account now.

I forgot my password for my online account. Can I reset it online?
Yes! First, visit our Reset password page, and enter the email address associated with your online account. Note that your online account email could be different from the email you use for membership and/or our email subscriptions.

Once submitted, we'll email you a link to reset your password. If you don’t receive an email, check your spam folder or junk folder. If you still have not received an email from us, it likely means that you don’t have an REI Online Account associated with that email address. You can create an online account now. If you’re already a member, learn how to link your membership to a new online account.

I updated my REI Online Account information. When can I see the changes?
It can take time for our systems to process your information fully. Changes can be almost instant or take up to 24 hours for you to see. Try refreshing the browser session and/or clearing your browsing data—this might help you see the changes sooner. Please note that, unfortunately, we cannot help with technical support for your devices.

Can I view my purchase history online?
Your ability to view previous purchases online depends on your membership status and how you made the purchase.

In-store purchases—See purchases made in January 2014 or after (using your member number). Please note that in-store member purchases can take up to 24 hours to appear online.
Online orders—See orders placed January 2014–present (while signed into your online account with your member number linked)
Orders via call center—See orders placed January 2014–present

REI staff note: Employee orders placed online, via call center or via store staff from January 2014–present will appear in your purchase history. In-store purchases are currently not available.

REI Email subscription questions

I get emails from REI Co-op. Why is my email address not found when updating or creating a new account?
If you receive promotional emails from REI but your email isn’t found, you’re likely only subscribed to REI Email, and might not have a full online account. Create a free REI Online Account to make shopping online easier. We recommend using the same email address you used to subscribe to REI emails. How do I update my email communication preferences?
Email subscription information can be different than what is associated with your online account and/or membership. After a quick security check, you can easily manage your REI Email communication preferences.

REI Co-op Membership information questions

Is an REI Online Account the same thing as a membership?
No, each are different types of REI accounts. Anyone can shop at any REI store, on REI.com, use our mobile app or place an order at 1-800-426-4840. A free REI Online Account makes shopping faster and more convenient.

An REI Co-op Membership means you are entitled to many member benefits. You can’t "sign in" to an REI Co-op Membership account. However, you can link your member number to your REI Online Account to make it easier to take advantage of member benefits while shopping online. This includes earning 10% back on eligible items as part of your Co-op Member Reward and getting free U.S. standard shipping for members.

So, what would you like to do?

Can I use any email address for my REI Online Account?
Yes, you can use any email address. However, to ensure a seamless checkout and help reduce potential confusion in the future, it’s best if your email address matches the one associated with your membership. In fact, you’ll get the best results if you ensure your membership and REI Online Account contain the exact same information. This is especially important with the spelling of your first and last name, as well as your phone number and billing address. If there are discrepancies, you could see error messages when checking out.

I’m a member, but I can't remember my sign-in email and/or password. What should I do?
Currently, REI Online Accounts, REI Co-op Memberships and REI Email preferences are all separate. You can’t “sign in" to an REI Co-op Membership account, and there’s no password; just a member number. While we offer a guest checkout option, we recommend linking your member number to your REI Online Account to make it easier to take advantage of member benefits when signed in at checkout.

If you’ve created an online account and can’t sign in, try entering your email address on our Reset password page. If the email address you thought was associated with your online account isn’t found and you don’t get a password reset email, contact us.

I’ve linked my membership number with my online account, but I can’t see or use my rewards. What can I do?
Co-op Member Rewards are issued each March, whereas REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards are issued throughout the year as you earn them. If you have Total REI Rewards (Co-op Member Rewards and/or REI Co-op® Mastercard® Rewards) available to use, you should be able to see and apply them to your online order on the final “Review and Pay” step in checkout.

During checkout, if you don’t see the rewards you expect, make sure the full name on your online account (and in your order’s billing address) matches the name on your REI Co-op Membership. Note that your membership information could be different than what’s stored in your REI Online Account. While you can still earn rewards, only the original membership holder with their name on the record can view and use rewards.

Why does my online account and membership information need to match?
When checking out online, it’s important that the full name on your online account (and in your order’s billing address) matches the name on your REI Co-op Membership to fully utilize your membership benefits.

While you can still earn rewards, only the original membership holder with their name on the record can view and use rewards. To see and use any available Total REI Rewards (Co-op Member Rewards or REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards), your online account details and membership record must match.

How do I update my member information?
Unlike our free online accounts, REI Co-op Membership information is maintained by REI staff. Please visit any REI store location or contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.

I updated my REI Online Account information. Why isn’t my REI Co-op Membership information updated, too?
REI Online Accounts and REI Co-op Memberships are different types of accounts. So, updating one of the accounts doesn’t automatically update the other. REI online accounts are created and maintained by the customer, whereas the REI Co-op Membership information is maintained by REI staff. Visit any REI store location or contact us, to update your membership information.
