Biking in the Beaver State could get even better.
E-bikes are increasingly popular for people looking to commute to work, run errands, or enjoy the outdoors without a car. But people of all income levels should be able to access and enjoy this form of low-carbon transport.
The state legislature is currently considering HB 2571, an incentive program to reduce the cost of purchasing an e-bike in Oregon. The bill would create a $6 million point-of-sale incentive program for e-bike purchases, with one-third of the funds dedicated to lower-income individuals. If passed, individuals can recieve vouchers of either $400 or $1,200 (for income-qualified individuals) to use toward e-bikes priced at a minimum of $950, providing big savings for bike customers.
Cycle advocates and enthusiasts across the state are excited because HB 2571 could affirm Oregon's role as a leader in expanding electrical bicycle access for all. You can help make it happen.
