Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and Molok Luyuk.

The lands in and around Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument are sacred to their original stewards, Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. With the expanded protection of 13,700 addtional acres of their traditional homelands, the Molok Luyuk (Condor Ridge) region near Sacramento, within Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument is now protected for generations to come.

For recreation lovers, this expansion provides 360 degree views of Mount Shasta and the Sierra Nevadas, and brings in additional resources to improve trails and access routes for hiking, mountain biking, off-roading and camping.

It also safeguards vital habitat for bald eagles, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, and more than 30 species of rare plants and wildflowers. In total, the protection of Molok Luyuk helps to conserve California’s native flora and curb threats of development, lead poisoning and DDT contamination currently facing wildlife in the area.

Today we celebrate. Thank President Biden for protecting Molok Luyuk within Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.
