Very happy!
I bought two of these to replace ancient camping chairs that were on their last leg and I'm so happy with them! The sizing works for both me and my husband (I'm 5'6" average build, my husband is 6' and bulkier). We have used these for so many activities beyond camping: as extra seating in our tiny, tiny living room, on the front porch while the kids race around the yard, weekly concerts at the park, and of course around the campfire. Easy to tote around. Easy to set-up. One small piece of feedback is I wish the side pocket was big enough to hold a drink. I realize that's not the purpose of it -- just wishful thinking on my part!
Great for sensory issues of autism
I ordered this rocking chair for my 10-year-old son who has sensory processing disorder and is on the autism spectrum. He fell in love with it at the store (didn't want to get out of it) and had to have it. I waited until it was on sale and ordered it online. There was a shipping snafu (incorrect color and chipped wood on the footing) that REI I made right and then some! Thank you REI for such wonderful customer service! Also, the rocker is low to the ground and portable, which is perfect for our needs.
Comfortable, but it won't knock your socks off.
I was drawn to the idea of a camp chair that rocks, so I purchased one of these on sale. I found it mildly comfortable, and did enjoy the rocking. It doesn't pack down that small at all, making it an obvious car camping chair or picnic chair. To help transport it though, it does come with it's own bag. This is where it loses stars though, since it's not that portable, it becomes a rather expensive car camping rocker. And for not much more money you can buy rockers designed for that purpose that have full backs. Of course not everyone has that sort of space, so that's where this chair comes in handy. All of that being said, due to the fact that it's so big, it's easy to see how REI could have designed a higher back without sacrificing much in the way of weight or height. Those wondering if they'll fit, I'm 6 ft 200lbs, and fit fine.
Comfortable and fun to sit on
I really enjoy sitting on this chair. It doesn't rock as much as I would like, but I find myself sitting on the chair often. I have it set up at home just so I could use it every day. Due to its weight and size, this chair would be excellent for car camping, not necessarily for backpacking.
Good quality camp chair, not all backs need apply.
This chair like most are hit and miss and depend entirely on the individual so try this in store first. I am delighted by mine and ind the pocked is perfect for my cell phone or kindle. Solidly built, and handy. and a good height for my Yeti 45 Cooler.
First Camp Chair Purchase
I had been thinking about buying a camp chair for over a year, but wasn't ever sure if it was really worth it, especially because I had purchased a hammock for hanging around camp. This one kept catching my eye because the price was great and I liked how it can fold up easily for storage. I absolutely love this chair! It's very comfortable and is perfect for working on meal preparation around camp, or just hanging around the campfire. I was worried about it being a rocking chair, but the rocking is just subtly enough to still let you work on things without falling over or making a mess.
Cool little chair
You can sit on this chair backwards on an incline and will not fall back. It doesn't slip on steep terrain either. I do wish that it rocked a bit more (wood feet were more curved), but it works well as is.
Perfect for petite car campers
This chair was an impulse purchase (sale sale sale!) and I am so glad I purchased it. It breaks down to a nice, flat size which is perfect for stowing away in my vehicle for car camping. I've even used it on my patio and in my living room. Low seating is the most comfortable for me as I have short legs and this is perfect for someone petite like me, who feels overwhelmed or uncomfortable in larger, higher backed chairs. A fabulous alternative to the traditional spider-leg camping chair!
So comfortable!
The chair is very comfortable. I originally bought the chair to take camping, but it now has a place in my living room. It's that awesome! When I took it camping, people anywhere from 100 pounds to 250 pounds used it constantly for a week, and it held up beautifully. Now, after daily use for 1.5 months, it's still as good as new. The only drawback is that I wouldn't take it on a multi-day backpacking trip. It's just too bulky and heavy for that. But, for a short hike into a campsite, it's perfect to relax and play some ukuele in.
Great for car-camping
Love this chair. Folds up relatively easily and compactly. It's great for picnics, car camping, music festivals, waiting in line at the DC REI Flagship store grand opening (!!), you name it. I got lots of compliments on my chair b/c it is both adorable and rugged, comfortable and compact. I bought the grey and the blue with orange designs -- the blue with orange is my favorite. Wish it had a cupholder: last weekend around the campfire I had nowhere to put my cup of hot cider as I ate my dinner! I don't think this chair is any more comfortable or convenient than a regular ol' $20 soccer mom chair you can buy at Target, and it doesn't rock all that much. But I still think it's a great purchase, and I am very happy with it.
