Join REI for this evening kayaking adventure to see the thousands of Mexican Freetail Bats taking flight over the Cosumnes River Preserve. Every year an estimated 40,000 bats roost on the underside of a nearby bridge and dramatically take flight at sunset in search of insects. This beautiful preserve is situated at the confluence of the Consumnes and Mokelumne rivers and is home to not only bats but also an extensive birdlife, including herons, red-tailed and Swainson's hawks. Our guides will accompany you and share their knowledge of the area and the incredible wildlife of the Refuge. All equipment will be provided, so come and be a part of this fun adventure and watch this amazing spectacle with REI this season.
